The 4 Rules of Working WITH Your Body to Burn Fat

It always happens…

Whenever I have a conversation with a woman who is asking about nutrition or training advice, they inevitably mention how they feel they need to do or eat things they hate on a daily basis in order to burn fat.

Just the other day, I had a conversation with a busy mom who was struggling with trying to lose the same 15lbs since she turned 30, and felt like it was hopeless.

So she went to extreme measures because she felt nothing else had worked.

And unfortunately, after she lost 10lbs within a month, her plan backfired and caused them to fall way off track for months, and she gained back 15lbs (now she was 20lbs away from her goal).

Here was what she did that ended up backfiring:

She skipped breakfast every day and didn’t eat until 12pm.

Between 12pm and 7pm she would only eat 2 meals.

She was going to a group studio workout 5 days per week at 5am.

She cut out all bread, sweets, and only allowed herself to have 1 glass of wine per week.

In the long run, she ended up further from her goal with less muscle, more frustration, and a further damaged relationship with the process.

Why?

Because she was trying to force her body to do what she wanted instead of working with her body.

You already know that being a working mom in their 30s & 40s can make improving your body harder than ever before.

But simply trying to force your body into the fat loss you want will always cause your metabolism to fight tooth and nail against the fat loss.

Here’s what I mean when I say working with your body:

– Fuel your body with enough calories from balanced meals, as this signals to metabolism that you are not in danger and it is safe to support lean muscle.

– Eat meals (not snacks) 3-4x per day, and please avoid fasting or going 5-7 hours without eating. This trend of fasting is honestly a harmful behavior for women.

– Remember that food is more than just “fuel” and enjoying the food you eat is an important part of the process. Having food that is “not healthy”, in moderation, is part of having a sustainable lifestyle.

– Lift weights for the physical & mental benefits instead of trying to punish yourself by “burning off ” the food you ate.

This is how you can build a lean, toned, and strong body while also enjoying the process.
